Isuzu Malaysia Launches Accessories Package For D-Max And Previews New BluePower Engine At KLIMS ’18
Isuzu Malaysia has launched two accessories package for the Isuzu D-Max as well as previewed its new BluePower engine in conjunction with KLIMS ’18. The accessories packages are targeted at the urban trucker enthusiast who want to enhance their pickup trucks’ look.
The ‘Titanium’ package is the more understated of the two, and consists of chrome headlamp garnish, rear lamp guard, door handle cover and garnish, tailgate cover and garnish, rocker plate as well as door visor.
The ‘Robust’ package is a little more brash to project a tougher look. The kit includes matte black headlamp garnish, rear lamp guard, door handle cover and garnish, tailgate cover and garnish, door visor and engine hood protector. Both these packages retail at RM1,180 each.
Additional optional accessories are available, like the matte black front bumper guard (RM1,390) that covers the entire front side of the vehicle. Complementing the bumper guard is the matte black over fender (RM1,090) that visually increases the size of the wheel arch.
Isuzu’s new BluePower engine also makes an appearance at the motor show. This turbodiesel engine is only 1.9 litres but produces 150 hp and 350 Nm 1,800 – 2,600 rpm. The engine features a water-cooled variable geometry turbocharger that has an exhaust gas recirculating system to reduce NOx emissions.
This engine is already available in the D-Max and mu-X in other ASEAN markets like Thailand and the Philippines, paired with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. Isuzu Malaysia had held back its introduction here to due to the limited availability of Euro 5 diesel, especially in East Malaysia which is a big market for the company. Hopefully the fuel companies will increase the availability of Euro 5 diesel to more areas as soon as possible.
Also on display are a street-rugged D-Max and an off-road version of the mu-X. The rugged D-Max exterior comes with army electric blue geometrics and Highlight Red as the main body colour. The body is upgraded with steel bumpers, street-style alloy wheels and a roll bar with a tougher look. The interior sports a “blue metal armour” design, which resembles a military design.
Meanwhile, the mu-X survived its run of the Borneo Safari and has been improved with some kit. It is fully off-road capable, and equipped with various add-ons such as a winch, roof tray, mud tyres, and steel bumpers. It is also lifted 3″ for improved ground clearance in both inclines and declines. The interior has received an upgrade in leather seats. The monotone black and yellow accent decal complements the entire
rugged and tough look.
As a reminder, the 2018 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show at the Malaysia International Trade And Exhibition Centre in Jalan Dutamas 2, KL, will be on until 2 December 2018.
