Bermaz Motor Unveils New Mazda 6; 2 Body Styles & 3 SKYACTIV Engine Choices
Simulataneously with the CX-3, Bermaz Motor unveiled the new 2018 Mazda 6. As Mazda’s flagship passenger car, the Mazda 6 has been redesigned with higher levels of ‘sophisticated elegance’ to further emphasise Mazda’s KODO – Soul of Motion design philosophy. The new 2018 Mazda 6 features premium details and technologies based on Mazda’s human-centric development philosophy. The new 2018 Mazda 6 has won “Best Performance Brand” and “Best Car Styling Brand” awards of the Kelly Blue Book’s 2018 Brand Image Awards and also earned a 5-Star rating from Car And Driver.
The Mazda 6 is available here in CBU (Completely Built-Up) form and comes in two body styles i.e. Sedan and Touring, and three engine choice i.e. SKYACTIV-G 2.0L, SKYACTIV-G 2.5L & SKYACTIV-D 2.2L; all of them paired with 6-speed SKYACTIV-DRIVE automatic transmission with manual shift and sports mode, along with Mazda’s G-Vectoring Control (GVC). The 2.0L petrol version and 2.2L diesel version are available only in sedan form, while buyers of the 2.5L petrol version get a choice of sedan or touring.
The new Mazda 6 has received marked changes to the exterior to make the 6 look more premium and elegant. This includes a new front grille design that highlights the depth and wide stance of the car, a new front bumper redesigned with air vents to improvve aerodynamics, and sleeker, sharper tail lamp design to emphasise a lower stance. Sleek new LED headlamp design, new design rims and new chrome finish in the rear round off the noticeable changes. Incidentally, the tailpipes have also been repositioned closer to the outer edges of the vehicle.
Mazda designers have added more premium details to enhance the feeling of quality in the interior of the Mazda 6. Notably, the dashboard has been widened to accentuate the Mazda 6’s sharp lines and subtle sophistication. The MAZDA CONNECT infotainment display is now a larger 8″ screen placed higher for better visibility. Aiding the human-centric factor is the front seats which have been enhanced to form a natural “S” shape in the human spine and help improve comfort and reduce fatigue. The front seats have also been widened to increase physical support. Creature convenience includes a USB charging point in the rear centre armrest in addition to the standard cup holders.
The new Mazda 6 also comes with a colour windshield-projection Active Driving Display for 2.2L & 2.5L variant. Also exclusive to the 2.2L & 2.5L variants are Mazda’s latest 360° View Monitor that shows the vehicle’s surroundings during parking and reversing manoeuvres; Driving Attention Alert (DAA) that “learns” the driver’s behaviour at speeds above 65 km/h and warns the driver when abnormal driving patterns are detected; and Smart City Brake Support Rear (SCBS R) which helps prevent low-speed collision when the reverse gear is engaged. If the system determines that a collision is unavoidable, the drive will be alerted and the brakes will be applied automatically to prevent or reduce the impact of a collision.
The improvements to the Mazda 6 continue in its vehicle dynamics with redesigned suspension and reinforced chassis bracing for a smoother and more enjoyable Jinba-Ittai driving experience. The premium-ness of the Mazda 6’s interior environment is improved with thicker door panels, outer glass, headliner, and door seals.
