Toyota Hilux Gets New L-Edition Variant With Two Engine Choices

A new variant of the popular Toyota Hilux pickup truck has been introduced – the Hilux L-Edition, and it comes with two engine variants i.e. 2.8L AT 4×4 and 2.4L AT 4×4. The L-Edition (where ‘L’ refers to luxury) comes with upgraded accessories, based on customer feedback for more premium features.

The Hilux L-Edition is powered by either of the existing 2.8L and 2.4L 4-cylinder turbodiesel engines paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission with sequential shifter. This engine series is said to provide stronger low-end torque delivery, better response for acceleration, greater reliability under the most extreme conditions as well as improved fuel efficiency.

The L-Edition gets a different face from the other Hilux variants courtesy of a new hexagonal grille with chrome trim, as well as a re-profiled bumper with larger air intake for a bolder look. A new rear step ornament is integrated with silver trim to add a premium touch. The Hilux L-Edition also wears new stylish dual-tone five-spoke 18″ rims.

The interior of the Hilux L-Edition is an all-black affair with a combination of piano black trim. The combination leather seats are perforated for more comfort and better ventilation. The range-topper 2.8L L-Edition model gets specially designed Optitron meters with white background lighting.

In terms of safety kit, the L-Edition is equipped with 7 airbags, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Active Traction Control (A-TRC) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) as standard. For the 2.8L L-Edition, Downhill Assist Control (DAC) is added to make driving down a steep slope easier and safer.

All Toyota Hilux models come with a 5-year warranty or a maximum mileage of 150,000 km. This warranty is transferable to the next owner as long as certain terms and conditions are met.
