Four Mitsubishi Models Added To Field Fix Campaign In Malaysia

by -

Kuala Lumpur, 22 February 2018 – Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) is requesting for owners of Mitsubishi Lancer (year of manufacture December 2014 – February 2016) and Outlander (year of manufacture December 2015 – June 2016), both imported from Japan, and the locally-assembled Mitsubishi ASX (year of manufacture March 2015 – November 2016) to arrange with the nearest authorised Mitsubishi Motors service centre to replace the engine control relay of their vehicles. MMM stated that about 5,000 vehicles are affected.

According to MMM, the engine control relay protects the engine’s ECU from any sudden surge of voltage. If it is not replaced, there is a risk of a relay failure which will affect the engine’s ECU function.

Besides the three models mentioned above, MMM is also conducting a Field Fix Campaign to replace the passenger side airbag inflator for 115 units of Pajero Exceed (year of manufacture March 2010 – July 2012). These are the defective Takata airbags which are affected by the global recall campaign.

“Safety is our utmost priority thus MMM is taking this initiative to assure customer’s safety and regrets the inconvenience caused to the affected customers,” said Tomoyuki Shinnishi, Chief Executive Officer of MMM.

MMM will be sending out notification letters to all affected Mitsubishi owners and the full cost of the replacement will be borne by the company..
