Penang-based Grov Design Studio was voted winner of the Volvo Aurizn Design Challenge for its interpretation of Volvo’s distinct Swedish design language and its application in conceptual interior design. The final round was held in boutique developer, BÖN Estates’ gallery in Bangsar, with senior management of Volvo Car Malaysia, BÖN Estates and invited guests and customers voting for the most innovative and imaginative design.
All 7 interior design houses presented and displayed their design application to one of BÖN Estates’ layout of its flagship residential project, The Estate @ South Bangsar, a 3.68-acre freehold project featuring two 46-storey towers with amenities. The designers were required to showcase their design talent of combining Volvo’s understated elegance with ‘ own ‘Five Elements’ design philosophy, in both form and function.
In the lead-up to the final round, the participants were treated to a day out with Volvo’s flagship sedan, the new S90 T8 Twin Engine, as well as a tour of the apartment interior of The Estate, to get inspiration from the design elements and philosophy of each.
Although there was only one winner, each of the finalists were invited by BÖN Estates to join its panel of designers for current and future projects.
BÖN Estates Managing Director, Goh Soo Sing said, “BÖN Estates applauds the ingenuity, vision and creativity behind all the designs that these talented individuals have created. We have always been fans of the power of imagination, and to see it come to fruition in the form of outstanding interior concepts on this occasion is certainly inspiring, especially to us in the BÖN Estates family who firmly believe in enhancing the quality of life through spaces that are well-crafted. This challenge has shown that our capacity to achieve this is limitless when we use the power of our imagination”.
Goh also congratulated Volvo and Aurizn (a digital magazine publisher) for their roles in bringing such a unique design challenge to life, adding that BÖN Estates is pleased to be a part of celebrating outstanding talent, artistry and ingenuity.
The winner of this Volvo Aurizn Design Challenge gets an all-expense-paid trip to Volvo’s headquarters and design centre in Gothenburg, Sweden.
