The new 2018 Range Rover Velar is expected to reach Malaysian shores in early Q2 of 2018, according to the official importer and distributor, Jaguar Land Rover (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd. Named after a Range Rover prototype that was produced 1969, the Velar is a new mid-sized SUV that offers a new level of luxury and refinement and bridges the gap between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport.
The Velar is designed to blend contemporary styling and advanced technology in a powerfully proportioned and spacious package. The body is built with an aluminium-intensive monocoque using Jaguar Land Rover’s Lightweight Aluminium Architecture. Aluminium alloys account for 81% of the body-in-white; still unmatchable by its rivals. The light, stiff, aluminium-intensive body, together with double-wishbone front and Integral Link rear suspension provide for agile handling, superior ride comfort and outstanding refinement. It also delivers exceptional levels of crash protection to meet the most demanding crash test regulations.
The Velar features the most slender full-LED headlights on any Land Rover vehicle, as well as flushed door handles to emphasise its reductive, sculptured form, and contribute to a low drag coefficient of 0.32 (this is the most aerodynamically-efficient Land Rover ever produced).
The new Touch Pro Duo infotainment system in the Velar features 2 high-definition 10″ touchscreens that form the centrepiece of a minimalist cabin and blends a futuristic, elegant feel with an intuitive, engaging interface for functionality.
Designed and engineered at Jaguar Land Rover’s development centers in the UK, the Velar is also manufactured at the company’s Solihull, UK production facility.
Pending its official launch locally, Jaguar Land Rover is accepting bookings for the Velar at all Land Rover showrooms. You can also register your interest and receive updates from www.landrover.com.my/keep-me-informed.
