Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Launches GLA Facelift

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia literally brought the party to town when they unveiled the facelifted urban hunter – the GLA. There are 3 variants to appeal to those who want compact, sporty fun – the GLA 200 Urban Line, GLA 250 4MATIC AMG Line and the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 4MATIC priced at RM 239,888, RM 269,888 and RM 408,888 respectively (on the road without insurance).

The updates to the GLA include redesigned front and rear bumpers, a front grille with parallelogram elements in the twin louvers, new LED headlamps and tail lamps, and redesigned wing mirrors.

The wing mirrors are part of an improvement to aerodynamics and noise management, together with the low A-pillar step with corresponding A-pillar geometry. The generously sized trim on the main floor, an additional trim in the center section of the rear axle and an aerodynamically optimized rear silencer with a connected diffuser improve the flow of air beneath the body. An elaborate roof spoiler lip, specially shaped tail lights plus discreet side rear spoilers also ensure that the air flow at the tail end is aerodynamically optimal. As a result, the coefficient of drag value improved from 0.29 to 0.28.

The interior receives minor alterations mainly to the dials and switches. Standard for the GLA is Active Brake Assist which warns the driver if there isn’t sufficient distance to the vehicle in front and if required, applies the brakes especially when it detects that the driver might not react in time. The GLA also has Attention Assist which can detect typical signs of drowsiness via the steering behavior and warn the driver about an impending microsleep.
