Haval H1 Is The Revamped M4
If the Haval H1 compact SUV looks familiar it’s because it used to be called M4. The name change comes following Great Wall Motors Company Ltd’s (the China-based manufacturer) rebranding of Haval as it aims to increase its presence internationally, especially in ASEAN.
The Haval H1 is equipped with a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder VVT MPI (multi-point injection) engine putting 105 hp and 138 Nm of torque to the front wheels via a 6-speed AMT (automated manual transmission).
The revamped H1 is furnished with a sporty chrome grille and the Haval logo is embedded on the steering wheel, car boot and seats to differentiate it from the M4.
Go Auto Chief Executive Officer Ahmad Azam Dato’ Sulaiman said the company hopes to strengthen the brand locally with the rebranding of Haval H1. “We would like to be widely known and remain with just a name – Haval. All our vehicles will be introduced as Haval (after the re-launch),” he said.
Ahmad Azam added that Go Auto has made history in the local automotive sector by being the first company awarded with car manufacturing license for energy efficient vehicles (EEVs).

Additionally, the local assembler/distributor has also implemented a “Buy Back Guarantee” scheme to assure its vehicle owners receive 50% of its value should the SUVs be resold to the company within 5 years.
The Haval H1 comes in 3 variants i.e. Comfort (RM 60,017), Premium (RM 65,852) and Elite (RM 72,659), which are maintained from the previous M4; all prices quoted are on the road without insurance. The top-of-the-range Haval H1 Elite gets a sportier look with halogen headlights with LED lights in the background. Additional LED lights are also installed above the fog lamps to accentuate the design.
There are 6 colors to choose from i.e. white, silver, black, blue, red and orange and all H1 come with a 7-year warranty with unlimited mileage for added peace-of-mind.
