Spotted: 2016 Mazda CX-9
An autoworld.com.my reader has shared with us pictures of a transporter ferrying a pair of 2016 Mazda CX-9, on one of our highways.
There has been speculation that the new Mazda CX-9 will be launched in Q4 this year, of which only a little over 2 months are left.
Sitting on a longer wheelbase of 2,930 mm, the new CX-9 is taller and wider but shorter than the outgoing model. And while the current TB CX-9 is running with a 3.7-liter V6 MZI engine, the new SkyActiv TC CX-9 will use a 2.5-liter turbocharged powerplant (the first turbo SkyActiv petrol engine) paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
According to Mazda engineers, the ergonomics of the 2 front rows of this 7-seater SUV were designed for a variety of body sizes ranging from a 150 cm-tall Japanese to a 99th percentile German. Meanwhile the 3rd row can take anyone up to 170 cm, suitable for many average-sized adults.
As for pricing, it is rumored to be in the region of RM 250k but we’ll just have to wait for the official announcement.
