Volkswagen Jetta Facelifted And Certified As EEV

The Volkswagen brand in Malaysia now comes under new management i.e. Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) and as its first move is to launch a refreshed mid-size sedan, the Volkswagen Jetta.

The locally-assembled Jetta is available in three variants – Trendline (RM 108,990), Comfortline (RM 117,990) and Highline (RM 128,990); all prices quoted are for Peninsular Malaysia excluding registration and insurance.

“This new, locally-assembled Jetta offers an aspirational drive that marries sportiness with performance and safety – all without compromising on its fuel efficient consumption levels. And with the option of a multiline, there is a Jetta to fit the different needs and budget of our customers,” said Mr. Alin Tapalaga, Managing Director of VPCM.

“VPCM will continue to offer Malaysians multi-line options in future Volkswagen models – and, like the new Jetta, these will also be very competitively priced. Moreover, improving the overall ownership experience for Volkswagen owners remains a key focus for us – we have begun enhancement steps with the introduction of
a 5-year manufacturer warranty which took effect on the 1st of September,” added Alin.

The new Jetta and other Volkswagen cars purchased after 1 September 2016 will now enjoy 5-year manufacturer warranty along with 5-year roadside assistance.

Volkswagen Jetta 1.4L Engine Malaysia 2016Available in 4 colors (Candy White, Platinum Grey, Reflex Silver and Deep Black), the Jetta is powered by a new generation, 1.4L TSI single-turbocharged engine with an improved 7-speed direct shift gearbox (DSG) and has power output of 150 PS and 250 Nme of torque between 1,500 – 3,500 rpm.

The New Jetta claims a 0 – 100 km/h time of 8.6 seconds and a combined fuel consumption of approximately 5.0 l / 100 km. As such, the Jetta is a certified EEV (Energy Efficient Vehicle) and includes such features as start/stop function, regenerative braking and coasting function.

Safety kit comes in the form of multi-collision brakes, brake disc wipers, 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Brake Assist (BA), Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS), hill-hold control, safety- optimized front head restraints, anti-theft alarm system with interior surveillance system, anti-pinch power windows and ISOFIX points for child seats.

The plush features for the range-topping Highline include KESSY keyless entry and push start, leather multi-function steering wheel with paddle shifters, auto-dimming rear view mirror, cruise control, auto power windows, cooled glove compartment, ‘Vienna’ leather seat upholstery, height adjustable armrest with rear aircond vents, 12-way driver electric seat, Climatronic dual-zone climate control, RCD330G head unit with capacitive touch display, single CD player (WMA/MP3 compatible), USB and iPod interface, AUX-IN support, SD card slot, and Bluetooth connectivity for mobile and audio streaming and MirrorLink function.

Other touches to the exterior of the Highline are 17″ “Queensland” alloy wheels and chrome grilles, front and rear fog lights, LED tail lamp, Bi-Xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights (with automatic headlight activation with ‘Leaving Home’ and manual ‘Coming Home’ functions) and a headlamp washer system.

The mid-range Comfortline gets multi-function controls on the steering wheel, Climatronic dual-zone climate control, RCD 330G head unit with 6 speakers and 16″ “Navarra” wheels. Meanwhile, the base Trendline has halogen headlamps, “Sienna” fabric upholstery, manual air-cond controls, RCD 220 head unit with 6 speakers and 16″ “Sedona” alloy wheels.
