My Auto Fest 2016 Nets RM 20 Million In Car Sales
The three-day My Auto Fest 2016 sales carnival, which ended on 22 May, achieved about RM 20 million in the sale of cars.
“This was our inaugural show and we are happy with what has been achieved. The exhibiting car companies went all out to offer excellent deals and discounts at this sales-oriented show, as well as bringing in some latest models for exclusive preview,” said Datuk Aishah Ahmad, president of the Malaysian Automotive Association and organizing chairman, My Auto Fest 2016.
“Entrance was free and many of the visitors came as family groups specifically to shop for cars. They came with a budget in mind and to compare the different options available all under one roof. Most of them spent hours comparing prices between the different models on show as well on test driving them before making their bookings. Another great attraction was the “Buy a Car Win a Car” contest where visitors who placed their bookings on a new car stood a chance to win a Nissan Almera 1.5L,” said Datuk Aishah.
Major car companies like Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar, Kia, Land Rover, Peugeot, Subaru, Toyota and Volvo participated in the fest and offered exclusive deals to visitors. Visitors, both young and old, also had the opportunity to view yet-to-be-launched models like the Toyota Sienta, new Honda Civic, new Proton Perdana and the Peugeot 408 e-THP, as well the first Asia Pacific preview of the Hyundai Ioniq hybrid and crossover concepts from Proton.
The Edaran Tan Chong booth was busy with a steady flow of visitors checking out the attractive rebates offered on the Nissan Almera, Grand Livina, Teana, Serena S-hybrid, all new X-Trail SUV and Navara pick-up truck, as it offered one million AirAsia Big points for grabs.
Besides cars, financial institutions like Public Bank, Bank Simpanan Nasional, RHB Bank, AIG Insurance and Liberty Insurance were on hand to assist in financing and insuring the special deals. Speed & Wheels e-magazine, a free digital Malay motoring magazine was also launched at the show.
Food trucks also provided visitors a variety of food from fresh coffees, burgers, fruit shakes to Malaysian, Thai, Mexican, American and European dishes.
“The food trucks did good business because they offered value for money meals. As organizers we supported good quality food truck operators by not charging commission on sales but only a minimum commitment fee” said Datuk Aishah.
Visitors were also given the opportunity to vote for their favorite food truck. At the end of the show, the top three favourite food trucks were Black Movement which served beverages, Portuguese egg tarts; Mat Rock, a favourite with lunch and dinner crowds for its rice with turmeric-flavored meat dishes, and Big Hug popular for its big burgers and variety of potato snacks.
Other side attractions were the accessories booths with a variety of car care products and engine oils, automotive parts and components for all kinds of cars.
Lifestyle booths offering Ai artisanal yogurt, Serasi all-natural handmade skincare products, health drinks and body care products, cosmetics, jewellery and relaxing shoulder massage, together with a children’s
corner with popcorn and cotton candy made it a wholesome family outing.
Judging from the feedback, this has the possibility of becoming an annual affair. If there are good deals to be found, why not?
