Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Adds C-Class Coupe To Dream Cars Collection
A decade ago, if you said Mercedes-Benz built cars for the young and the young-at-heart, a group of men in white will have carted you off in an ambulance. Today, if you said the same about Mercedes-Benz, that group of men in white will nod in agreement and leave you alone. For now, sitting in the showroom alongside the stately S-Class, the elegant E-Class and the adorable A-Class is the new captivating C-Class Coupe.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has added the C-Class Coupe range to the Dream Cars Collection (which counts the CLS Coupe, C 63 S, S 63 Coupe and GT S as members); and is the lowest priced in this club. Three variants of the Coupe are available – C 200 Coupe (RM 308,888), C 250 Coupe (RM 333,888) and C 300 Coupe (RM 388,888).
All three use the same 2-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine (but in different states of tune) and the 7G-TRONIC 7-speed automatic transmission to power the rear wheels. Coming as standard for all three variants are the AMG Line styling with flat-bottomed steering, Mirror Package (automatic dimming interior and exterior mirrors), Parking Package (active park assist and reverse camera), Thermatic climate control, run-flat tires, tire pressure monitoring system and Eco start/stop.
All variants are also equipped with Collision Prevention Assist Plus which features aural and visual proximity warnings as well as Adaptive Brake Assist with autonomous braking at speeds up to 200 km/h. There is also a Dynamic Select feature which boasts five different driving modes (Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ & Individual) to allow more personal customization, as well as cruise control with Speedtronic speed limiter.
The C-Class Coupe employs high-strength materials for the body to add strength and stiffness while the wings, bonnet and boot lid are made of light-alloy to save weight, in addition to the higher proportion of aluminum in its construction. It’s also aerodynamically slippery with a drag of coefficient of 0.26.
The C 200 Coupe is the base model armed with the same 2-litre engine as the higher variants but produces 184 hp and 300 Nm of torque. Sitting atop the Agility Control suspension set-up which lowers ride height by 15mm compared to the C-Class Saloon, and 18″ AMG 5-spoke light-allow wheels, it takes 7.3 seconds to reach 100 km/h from standstill.
The interior doesn’t look too different from the other variants at a glance but the C 200 Coupe gets Artico leather upholstery, Audio 20 multimedia system with CD player and Garmin MAP Pilot, 7″ display and touch pad.
Up one level is the C 250 Coupe which gets the same multimedia system but wears leather upholstery on the seats (Artico leather is used on the upper part of the dashboard). With more power (211 hp and 350 Nm) and on 19″ AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels with a sport suspension set-up using tauter springs and dampers and a Sports Direct-Steer system, the C 250 Coupe does 0 – 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds.
This one also gets the LED Intelligent Light System with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus like the top-of-the-range C 300 Coupe (C 200 Coupe gets a simpler LED High Performance Headlamp).
The range-topper is the most powerful of the lot with 245 hp and 370 Nm of torque; 0 – 100 km/h sprint time of 6.0 seconds. The C 300 Coupe owner will enjoy COMAND online with a larger 8.4″ screen, DVD player and Burmester surround sound system. It also has an integral W-LAN hotspot function and Linguatronic voice control system.
Other touches of sporty luxury include the sports exhaust system, electric panoramic sunroof and black open pore ash wood trim. An analog clock is also thrown in for a dash of posh-ness.
Mercedes-Benz Services Malaysia is also offering Agility Financing for the C-Class Coupe with low monthly installments and comprehensive motor insurance solution. The insurance offers a one-for-one vehicle replacement in the first year in event of total loss due to accident or theft (based on agreed value), as well as faster approval for claims under RM 30,000.
Other benefits include a guaranteed future value and financial flexibility i.e. to settle or extend financing, return the vehicle and upgrade to a newer model at the end of the term.
