Lexus Confirms RX With Three Rows Of Seats
Crossovers, CUVs and SUVs seem to be all the rage now and Lexus is very much on the ball with this with their successful NX and RX ranges. And since premium brands like Audi, Land Rover and Volvo have their Q7, Discovery Sport and XC90 crossovers/SUVs with third row seating, Lexus wants to turn one of its best-selling models into a people-mover too.
This was confirmed by Jeff Bracken, Group VP and GM of Lexus Division, Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. at the 2016 New York Auto Show, although it has been known for some time with a prototype stretched RX spied. The new addition however, will not go on sale until late-2017 or early-2018.
The new RX will likely get inspiration from the Toyota Highlander which has three-row seating but with the same Lexus luxury treatment in the regular RX.
Lexus recently applied at United States Patent and Trademark Officea to trademark the “RX 350L” and “RX 450hL” names so it’s quite safe to assume there will be two variants of the three-row RX in V6 and hybrid powertrains.
