Lexus Malaysia Reveals Updated GS Sedan Range With New Turbo Engine
Lexus Malaysia has announced that the Lexus GS sedan range has received a facelift and a new turbocharged engine. The Lexus GS 350 and GS 300h continue with their respective powerplants but the GS 250 has been replaced by the GS 200t featuring the 8AR-FTS 2L 4-cylinder engine with twin-scroll turbocharger and power output of 241 hp and 350 Nm of torque, representing 17% more power and 38% more torque than the 2.5L engine it replaces. The power goes to the rear wheels via an 8-speed Sports Direct Shift transmission except for the GS 300h which uses an E-CVT.
The exterior has been updated with Lexus’ ‘Intelligent Fierceness’ design that gives a bold, aggressive appearance. Together with the front bumper, the signature spindle grille has been revised with a 3-dimensional effect. The headlamps are now sleeker thanks to the relocation of the arrowhead DRL out of the Triple-L LED headlamp (the 200t Premium gets bi-LED headlamps). LEDs are also used in the rear light cluster.
The interior has received minor updates. The steering wheel wheel centre pad design has changed slightly and now also has genuine leather with double stitching (except for 200t Premium). In addition, the Remote Touch Interface now comes with BACK and ENTER buttons for more user-friendly operation.
Other opulent changes to the interior include having genuine leather wrapping with stitching and satin-tone plated ornamentation on the shift knob and satin plating on the inside door handles. The palm rest also has leather upholstery with stitching.
In terms of safety equipment, Lexus has added Brake Hold Assist which activates the brakes to keep the car still after coming to a complete stop. Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are also standard except in the 200t Premium.
As with all new models sold by Lexus Malaysia, there is a comprehensive factory warranty of 3 years or 100,000 km (whichever comes first after original registration). Additionally, the GS 300h battery pack is covered by an 8-year warranty with no limitation on mileage covered (terms and conditions apply).
