Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Sdn Bhd, together with authorised dealer, Hap Seng Star Sdn Bhd, today continues to strengthen its partnership with the launch of its seventh Autohaus in Malaysia. With an additional RM30 million in investments, the launch represents the start of a long-term expansion plan for Hap Seng Star to further enhance its reach to its customers in East Malaysia, beginning with HSS Miri which was launched in May 2015.

Speaking at the opening of the Mercedes-Benz Hap Seng Star Kota Kinabalu Autohaus (HSS Kota Kinabalu), Mercedes-Benz Malaysia President and CEO, Dr Claus Weidner, said, “HSS Kota Kinabalu is a positive step in developing our dealer network, especially in East Malaysia. Our presence in this region dates back to 1969, and our partnership with Hap Seng Star, has served to strengthen it. Hap Seng Star has fully embraced an ‘enduring passion’ for the Mercedes-Benz brand and business that continues till today.”

The result of a successful partnership between dealer and distributor, HSS Kota Kinabalu is strategically located with greater accessibility and visibility to customers. Housed at Ground Floor of Plaza Shell at 29 Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, HSS Kota Kinabalu is spread across 7,346 sq ft.

At its new location, HSS Kota Kinabalu is managed by 11 employees who are trained to offer a new benchmark of customer experience. With a track record of award-winning showrooms and an investment of RM2.0 million, Hap Seng Star’s latest Autohaus incorporates key aspects of the Mercedes-Benz Presentation System II (MPS II), an extensive guide to showroom design.

“In line with Mercedes-Benz’s philosophy, our commitment to the brand stretches from ensuring product and service quality, to providing innovative solutions to our customers. Since 2004, we have forged a path with many milestones in the Mercedes-Benz Malaysia network expansion, recognition of our Autohauses and distribution rights of passenger cars and commercial vehicles. HSS Kota Kinabalu serves as a testament to our continued dedication towards upholding the Mercedes-Benz brand and ongoing expansion strategy in East Malaysia,” said Group Chief Operating Officer of Hap Seng Consolidated Berhad & Chief Executive of Hap Seng Star Sdn Bhd, Harald Behrend.

The Mercedes-Benz workshop in Inanam has also been refurbished as part of this. Providing after-sales services to Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and commercial vehicles, the 24,000 sq ft workshop will accommodate growing after-sales service demands in Kota Kinabalu. At present, the MPSII-compliant workshop has a work bay capacity for 14 passenger cars and two commercial vehicles providing general repair and body and paint work.

Backed by a 40-year brand presence in East Malaysia, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia and Hap Seng Star are passionate about expanding their reach here and Peninsula Malaysia.  Hap Seng Star was first appointed as a Mercedes-Benz authorised dealer in 2004 for Klang Valley, and its Jalan Sultan Ismail showroom followed soon after. With roots in Kuala Lumpur, Hap Seng Star was also awarded, by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, distributor rights for Mitsubishi FUSO in Sabah and Sarawak in 2005.

At present, Hap Seng Star also operates Mercedes-Benz Autohaus locations in Kuching, Miri, Kinrara, Balakong, Jalan Sultan Ismail, and Jalan Ipoh.
