Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, the authorised distributor of Mitsubishi Fuso trucks, has added three new models, the FM65FN, FM65FJ and the FN62FM, to its product portfolio in Malaysia.

Speaking on the reception of the FM and FN series, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Commercial Vehicle Vice President, Albert Yee, said, “The truck series has time and time again proved to be a popular contender in the Malaysian market. Since 2012, we have sold more than 2,500 units on an annual basis, and we are confident that with these three new additions, it will further enhance our presence in the Malaysia market. The upgraded chassis provides especially good function in the construction, logistics and quarry industries. The FN series, in particular, has provided versatility for off-road applications.”

Succeeding its predecessors launched between 2009 and 2010, the upgraded variants – FM65FJ, FM65FN and FN62FM – are completely redesigned with new engines and chassis.

The FM65FJ is powered by an inline-six diesel engine generating a total of 686Nm of torque with a maximum output of 240PS at 2,600rpm. With its taper leaf spring suspension, this vehicle is designed for construction and heavy-duty use.

The FM65FN, meanwhile, also runs an inline-six engine, but a more powerful one which generates 785Nm of torque and maximum power of 270PS at 2,600rpm. The 16-tonne truck is optimized for performance on long-haul trips, offering smoother ride and is claimed to be ideal for the transport and logistics sector.

Completing the trio is the medium-duty FN62FM, which boasts a nine-speed transmission with a high-low range change. It generates a maximum output of 270PS at 2,600rpm and 795Nm of torque. It is equipped with a crawler gear, as is designed to function best in quarry areas. With the all-new nine-speed transmission, the FN62FM is claimed to offer better efficiency and lower fuel consumption.

Safety is high in the agenda of all three trucks, which come equipped with anti-lock braking system (ABS) and exhaust braking to help drivers avoid uncontrollable skidding and to give stronger braking performance. These trucks are also fitted with reverse sensors and daytime running lights.

The 4×2 FM65FJ, 4×2 FM65FN and 6×4 FN62FM are priced (bare chassis list price with GST) at RM183,688, RM198,288 and RM265,888 respectively. The models are available from October 2015. Aftersales of these trucks are covered by two-year/100,000km warranty together with three complimentary services up to 20,000 kilometres covering labour, spare parts and lubricants.
