Nissan NP300 Navara opens for bookings

Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) has opened its order books for the all-new Nissan NP300 Navara offering a total of six variants with estimated prices ranging from RM85,000 to RM125,000. All variants are powered by a carryover engine from the predecessor model, namely the 2.5-litre YD25 turbodiesel mated with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic transmission.

Two states of engine tune are available, with the automatic-only flagship VL variant getting an uprated 187hp/450Nm setup. Other variants in the range make do with 161hp/403Nm, a slight reduction in horsepower from the previous model’s 172hp but twisting out identical torque. Depending on variant, this state of the engine is available with either manual or automatic transmissions. All variants have four-wheel drive as standard.

The NP300 range starts off with the base Single Cab and 2.5E Double Cab variants, both offered with pared down equipment lists and manual transmission only to serve as basic workhorses. For private buyers, the range realistically starts with the 2.5SE model which can be offered with manual or automatic transmission, and continuing to the automatic-only 2.5V before reaching the pointed end with the 2.5VL.

All variants come with dual airbags as standard, but more advanced safety gear, namely ABS, EBD, stability control, hill start assist, and hill descent control come to play only from the SE model upwards. The V model adds keyless entry, reverse camera, cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity, and steering-mounted controls; whilst the flagship VL throws in leather upholstery, LED headlamps, and electric driver seat adjustment.

A notable technical highlight of the NP300 Navara is the use of coil spring rear suspension in Double Cab variants for more refined ride and handling. The Single Cab model continues with the more robust leaf spring setup typically favoured by other models in this segment.
