Volvo expands cloud-based road info sharing system testing
Volvo Cars, in a collaborative project with the Swedish Transport Administration and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, are working to enable cars to share information with each other on road conditions in real time.
Through this approach, information shared by each vehicle will be accessible by others through a cloud-based network, and real-world tests are intensifying with the pilot test fleet growing from 50 to 1,000 vehicles. Tests are being centred around Gothenburg and Oslo, and Volvo targets to have the system available to customers ‘within a few years’.
