The mid-life facelift of the Rolls-Royce Ghost, officially identified as the Series II makes its Malaysian debut in Kuala Lumpur today coinciding with the ‘Drive the Icon’ event organized to mark Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Kuala Lumpur’s fifth anniversary in operation as official distributor of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in Malaysia come January.

It has also incidentally been five years since the Ghost’s market launch, and the new Ghost Series II appropriately incorporates improvements and enhancements that inject a fresh impetus into its makeup. Appearance-wise, the Series II is sports re-sculptured bonnet and bumpers, newly re-designed LED headlights, along with additional paint and wheel options for a greater scope of Bespoke personalization.

Inside, the re-designed front seats now feature electronically adjustable thigh support and depth adjustment, whilst rear-seated passengers benefit from subtly re-angled seats to be more conducive for conversation between passengers. Full grain leather upholstery borrowed from the Phantom is standard fare, and buyers have the option of extending leather trim to the A and C pillars.

Under the skin of the Ghost Series II, Rolls-Royce has revamped its chassis with re-engineered front and rear struts, new steering gear, and adjusted dampers for improved handling in the event that the optional Dynamic Driving Package is specified. The already wafting ride quality in turn is further enhanced with new hydraulic rear axle bearings that serve to reduce vibrations and intrusions, especially for cars with 21-inch wheels.

The BMW-sourced 6.6-litre N74 V12 twin turbo engine retains its place in the Ghost’s engine room, continuing in an unchanged 563hp / 780Nm state-of-tune. The ZF 8HP automatic transmission, on the other hand, has been enhanced with satellite-aided control allowing it to better anticipate the correct gear for upcoming turns based on GPS data – be sure to update your maps then. Performance data from Rolls-Royce claims 4.9 seconds to 100 and a governed top speed of 250kph.

The ‘Drive the Icon’ event, which will be ongoing from 5 to 14 December, will be held at Lot 2766 Jalan Bukit Lanjan, offers the public a chance to see samples of leather, wood, and other bespoke elements that make up the interior of a Rolls-Royce vehicle.
