2014 Nissan Sylphy – Launch and estimated prices announced
Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd, official distributor of Nissan vehicles in Malaysia, has today confirmed that the all-new second-generation 2014 Nissan Sylphy will be launched in our shores on 29 April.
In a brief release sent out this morning, the company also confirmed that the new Sylphy will be powered by Nissan’s new 1.8-litre MRA8DE Dual CVTC engine fitted with a new generation X-Tronic CVT. Outputs are rated at 129hp and 174Nm, down from the outgoing model’s 131hp and 191Nm. Two trim levels will be available, and they are priced at an estimated RM115,300 and RM125,500 for the 1.8E and 1.8VL respectively.
Confirmed features of the all-new Sylphy include stability and traction control, ABS, EBD, six airbags, all-round disc brakes, steering-mounted controls, Bluetooth handsfree, and auto cruise. Dual zone climate control, rear air-con vents, keyless entry, and start/stop button, meanwhile, are highlighted as exclusive features for the 1.8VL. The two variants also differ in their rim sizes – 16″ for the 1.8E, 17″ for the 1.8VL.
Standardization of safety features, particularly the airbag count and stability control, is worth highlighting and praising. As a result, the new Sylphy, sold as the Pulsar in Australia, holds a five-star rating from the Australasian NCAP last year.
Order taking for the all-new Sylphy officially begins today at all ETCM branches and authorized dealers nationwide.
