Improved Perodua Myvi variants launched

Perodua has launched a new variant of its ever-popular Myvi, dubbed the Myvi XT, which replaces the current Myvi 1.3 Standard as the new entry-level model of the range. Aimed primarily university students and fresh graduate buyers, Perodua claims to have packed the Myvi XT with RM1,600 worth of enhancements over the existing Standard models with no increase in price.

Offered with two new colours, Metallic Lime Green and Metallic Dazzling Red, alongside existing colours namely Mystical Purple, Glittering Silver, and solid Ivory White, the Myvi XT receives a set of 14-inch alloy rims carried over from the previous-generation Myvi, new seat fabrics, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, and a silver-painted centre cluster.

Also updated, at the other end of the model spectrum, is the range-topping 1.5 Extreme variant, which receives security window film, new coil mats (they were not there before?), new leather seat cover design, and an updated central touchscreen unit at no increase in price. Perodua claims that these updates have a combined value of around RM1,000.

With these two updated variants, Perodua has streamlined the Myvi range to a total four trim levels, two for each engine variant – XT and SE for the 1.3, SE and Extreme for the 1.5. All trim levels are offered with a choice of manual and automatic transmissions, with the Extreme being an exception offered exclusively in automatic.

“The Perodua Myvi, which was launched in May 2005, celebrates its 9th Anniversary this year. The Myvi is Perodua’s flagship model, consisting of about 50% of our sales since 2006,” Aminar said. Perodua has sold over 750,000 units of its Myvi model since 2005, making it the country’s best-selling model for eight consecutive years.

Prices for the new Myvi XT start at RM41,936.45 with insurance for Peninsula Malaysia for the manual version with solid paint. From this starting point, metallic paint adds RM500 with automatic transmission being an additional RM3,000 outlay. The updated Myvi Extreme 1.5, meanwhile, goes for RM61,240.50 in solid paint, with metallic paint once again adding RM500 to the purchase price. Like all new Perodua models, both the Myvi XT and Myvi Extreme enjoy three years of free servicing at authorized Perodua outlets.
