SummerNats comes to Malaysia
SummerNats, an annual Australian automotive festival held every year since 1988, will be coming to Malaysia this year. Organized by JPM Motorsport, SummerNats Malaysia will be held at the Sepang International Circuit over four days from 29 August to 1 September 2014 in conjunction with the annual Sepang 12-Hour Race formerly known as the Merdeka Millenium Endurance Race (MMER).
The original event was the brainchild of Chic Henry, who organized the inaugural event in Canberra ACT 26 years ago, and since then subsequent iterations have attracted cult followings among Aussie car enthusiasts. Up to 1,500 cars journey to Canberra’s Exhibition Park every year for the three-and-a-half day showcase regularly attended by 100,000 spectators or thereabouts. The most recent event held earlier this year attracted 103,437 visitors.
SummerNats Malaysia will be the first SummerNats exhibition held outside Australia, and whilst seeking to re-create the atmosphere of the Australian original, the Malaysian iteration will seek to diversify its attraction to include custom motorcycles and superbikes, in addition to taking on a more family-oriented weekend for spectators. There will be hundreds of vehicles on display, such as the AC Cobra, Chevrolet Camaro SS, Chevrolet Bel Air, Chevrolet Impala, and Ford Mustang.
Tickets to SummerNats Malaysia are priced at RM100 for four days, and are available online from the JPM/SummerNats website or via appointed ticketing agents.
