KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, 20 March 2014 – Ford will give visitors a glimpse of a versatile next-generation SUV concept at the upcoming Bangkok International Motor Show, highlighting the company’s continued product-led transformation in the ASEAN region.

Aimed at the fast-growing SUV segment – which grew 13 percent globally in 2013 – the concept will show how Ford plans to meet and exceed the requirements of a growing segment of customers in ASEAN looking for a versatile and uniquely capable vehicle.

Alongside the concept, Ford will display its full lineup of global products for ASEAN markets featuring advanced smart technologies, including the stylish new Ford Fiesta, and the all-new Ford EcoSport urban SUV.

The display will underscore Ford’s efforts to serve customers in ASEAN with segment-leading One Ford vehicles, and will reflect the importance of the region to Ford’s global business. As the company works to grow its worldwide sales to eight million vehicles a year by mid-decade, it expects 60 to 70 percent of its growth to come from the Asia Pacific region, with ASEAN countries playing a central role.

“We are thrilled to share our vision for a remarkable new vehicle with visitors to the show, and to let them experience first-hand the exciting products and technologies that Ford is bringing to customers in Thailand and across the region,” said Matt Bradley, president, Ford ASEAN.

“By expanding our product offerings in Thailand and other markets, we’re introducing the Ford brand to many new customer segments, and continuing to drive the sales momentum that led to our best-ever year in ASEAN in 2013.”

The Bangkok International Motor Show coincides with the ASEAN release of two new vehicles: the new Ford Fiesta, featuring a redesigned exterior and a 1.5L Ti-VCT engine paired with a six-speed Ford PowerShift transmission, and the all-new Ford EcoSport, a versatile, fuel efficient urban SUV designed to fit into consumers’ busy lifestyles. The Fiesta and EcoSport are just two of 18 vehicles that visitors will see at Ford’s display.

The new Fiesta and all-new EcoSport join the technology-packed all-new Focus in being equipped with SYNC, Ford’s award-winning in-car connectivity system. Allowing drivers to stay connected and control their in-car entertainment system using voice commands, SYNC is not only convenient, but also helps drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road at all times.

Interactive displays
Visitors to the Bangkok show will have the opportunity to try out SYNC for themselves using a sample instrument panel unit, and can step inside any of the vehicles on the stand to receive a demonstration of SYNC in their favorite Ford.

Other interactive exhibits at the show include an “EcoBoost Me” photo booth, designed to give visitors a visceral sensation of the power of a turbocharged engine. Featuring a high-powered fan to simulate forced induction, visitors will have the chance to take and share souvenir photos showing them being quite literally blown away.

An EcoBoost engine display will also tell the story of the EcoBoost family, helping visitors to understand the combination of power and efficiency made possible by the engine technology. And highlighting the six-speed Ford PowerShift transmission available on the new Ford Fiesta, another display will use graphics to show PowerShift’s advantages for customers in ASEAN who wish to maximize both convenience and fuel efficiency.

As it expands its product lineup and dealership network in the region, Ford is also working hard to continuously enhance its customer service offerings. At the show, visitors will be able to see for themselves the exceptional skills of Ford Mobile Service technicians, who provide Ford customers with basic services, maintenance and emergency roadside assistance using Ranger Mobile Units.

Ford will also give live demonstrations of the Ford Integrated Diagnotic System (IDS), a tool available at every Ford dealership that allows technicians to diagnose and service Ford vehicles.

The 35th Bangkok International Motor Show runs from March 25 to April 6 at Impact, Muang Thong Thani.
