Lisa & Celebrities manage 218.95 km/l in Shell Eco-Marathon Asia
Malaysian actress and model Lisa Surihani joined forces with three other celebrities from across SouthEast Asia to participate in the Shell Eco-Marathon Asia currently taking place in Manila this week from 6 to 9 February 2014.
In its fifth year in Asia, Shell Eco-marathon is one of the world’s most innovative and challenging student competitions inviting teams from around the world to compete in ultra-energy efficient vehicles they have designed and built and sparking debate around the future of mobility. This year, more than 120 teams from 16 countries including 17 teams from Malaysia are participating in Shell Eco-Marathon Asia, taking place in Manila, the Philippines, for the first time.
Lisa’s celebrity team mates for the challenge consisted of Filipino model and actress Bianca Gonzalez, English-Thai actor and singer Alex Rendell, and Singaporean celebrity DJ Jean Danker. Collectively, the four personalities achieved a measured fuel consumption of 218.95 km/l driving ultra-energy efficient Shell Eco-marathon vehicles on a specially-designed street circuit. The quartet’s presence in Manila is the the culmination of four national challenges, which saw the celebrities each attempt to drive a set route in their countries using the least amount of Shell FuelSave fuel possible.
Before heading to Manila, Lisa had participated in the Shell FuelSave Celebrity Driving Challenge on 15-16 January 2014, during which Lisa met with members of Malaysian teams taking part in the Eco-Marathon. Alongside this, Lisa also picked up the Shell FuelSave Tips under the coaching of Shell FuelSave Ambassador, Fahrin Ahmad, and shared these driving tips with regular drivers as she prepared for the final challenge in Manila.
Earlier today, Lisa was quoted as saying, “I’m so proud to be a part of this team. However, the real stars today are the students. It’s been an honour to be part of their Shell Eco-marathon experience and to see such dedication and creativity in approaching future energy needs and challenges. I look forward to cheering them on in their own mileage competition later today.”
