Interesting Views at KLIMS 2013

Thursday, 14 November 2013 – The Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show opened today at the Putra World Trade Centre, which has been the home for KLIMS since the very first show back in the early nineties. It will run until 24 November 2013.

Although some of the industry favourites such a Proton, Audi, BMW and Mercedes are not in the show, the rest of the industry is here, and it is still worth a visit, especially if you like cars, girls, and classic cars. There are some very interesting cars to be viewed, and today was a full day for the media who were there as there was a multitude of new car launches and previews by the participating car makers. Honda, Volkswagen, Isuzu, Ford, Nissan, Peugeot, Citroen, and Hyundai all took turns to showcase their new products to the media. In addition, there are some interesting concept cars that are on display at the stands, and these make up the biggest reason why you should not miss KLIMS 2013.

Being near the year’s end, the car makers would be wanting to clear stock, and also make up for lost time during the election, when sales were down, to make up the numbers for the year’s sales targets. There will definitely be some special offers if you sign up during the show period. Volkswagen have publicly announced there are some special discounts for those who sign up at KLIMS, and Ford are taking orders for their new Urban SUV that is on display, for deliveries in the second quarter of 2014.

KLIMS 2013 is also a heaven of sorts for classic car lovers. Cars of yesteryear, in pristine shape and trim, some even looking better than the originals are on display at KLIMS. The large display of Classic Cars will make any classic car nut go crazy – the amount of loving care and maintenance to make these cars look even better than when they were new is mind-boggling, and this section is definitely worth a walk through.

Another reason, as good as any, would be that cars and girls are two things that seem to go hand in hand – the car makers seem to be trying to outdo each other, with some of the ambassadors being imported form a neighbouring country.

Visitors to the show are advised to go early to ensure that you can find a parking slot. If you are planning to go later in the day, try to take a train or a bus. The stops are just a stone’s throw away from PWTC, and you will likely save yourself a potential headache trying to find a parking lot at PWTC. On weekends, it will be just as bad unless you go very early. Meanwhile, enjoy!
