Mitsubishi Attrage officially launched with three variants
Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has officially launched the much-anticipated Attrage sedan today, reinforcing the brand’s presence in the B-segment in which it already competes with the sub-compact Mirage hatchback that also forms the basis of the Attrage’s running gear.
Powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder 3A92 MIVEC engine shared with the Mirage, Mitsubishi markets the Attrage as an ‘eco-sedan’ emphasizing on its fuel economy and low overall running costs as key ownership prepositions. Pushing out a rated 79hp and 106Nm, the Attrage has a claimed fuel consumption of 21 km/l tested in-house by Mitsubishi Motors Corp (MMC) based on the New European Driving Cycle.
Transmission options come in the form of a 5-speed manual and INVECS-III CVT, the former fitted in the base GL variant whilst the latter offered in higher-trimmed GS and SE guises. Mitsubishi’s initial communications also mentioned a GL CVT variant, but that was dropped presumably in anticipation of low demand.
Pricing for the Attrage starts at RM60,980 with insurance for the GL model going up to RM69,980 for the GS and RM77,980 for the range-topping SE. All three variants come standard with dual airbags, anti-lock brakes (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD), 15-inch alloy rims, ISOFIX, and front fog lamps. The standardization of safety features across all variants is praiseworthy.
Moving up, the mid-spec GS adds keyless entry, engine start/stop button, remote boot release, auto climate control, side-mirror blinkers, and leather-wrapped steering wheel. The range-topping SE, meanwhile, further adds LED daytime running lights, all-round bodykit, security window film, leather seats, and 2-DIN multimedia touchscreen with reverse camera. Features of the SE model, including the wrapover leather seats are fitted locally by MMM, although they are sourced from and developed by MMC. The Kenwood head unit, however, is locally sourced.
Fully imported from Thailand, the Attrage is offered with a selection of five colours, namely Eisen Grey Mica, White Pearl, Cool Silver Metallic, Red Metallic, and Cerulean Blue Mica. Mitsubishi offers it with a 3-year / 100,000km warranty and aims to sell 500 units per month.
