Updated 2013 Toyota Fortuner launched

Just a week after updating the Hilux with a clutch of new features, UMW Toyota Motor now presents us with a similarly updated version of the Hilux’s SUV sibling, the Toyota Fortuner. Developed with customer feedback taken into account, the new 2013 Toyota Fortuner and its enhancements come at no increase in price.

Customers continue to choose between the diesel-powered 2.5G, which shares the same VNT engine with the Hilux, and the petrol-powered 2.7V, which comes with a greater compliment of creature comforts. Both variants can be specified with TRD Sportivo body kits as cost options. The 2.5G produces 142hp and 343Nm whilst the 2.7V has access to 158hp and 241Nm; both are mated to four-speed automatic transmissions with full-time 4WD as standard.

Externally, the new 2013 Fortuner comes with enlarged 17″ twin-spoke alloy rims with dark grey finish. Bigger changes take place inside, where the previous beige-coloured interior is repalced with a new black colour scheme. The 2.7V gets electric driver seat adjust and leather upholstery with contrasting silver stitching. The 2.5G, meanwhile, is upholstered in fabric.

The two variants are also differentiated by their respective dashboard inserts that serve as contrasts to the newly-adopted background of black. The 2.5G gets silver elements to accentuate an ‘advanced’ image, whilst the 2.7V is matched with black woodgrain for a more luxurious appearance.

As before, all variants of the Fortuner have dual airbags and ABS as standard. Added to the kit list this time are ISOFIX child seat mounting points at the second row seats for better child safety.

The four variants of the 2013 Fortuner are priced (OTR with insurance) as follows:
– 2.5G: RM171,305
– 2.5G TRD Sportivo: RM174,789
– 2.7V: RM179,024
– 2.7V TRD Sportivo: RM182,482
