It is no secret that a key element of Toyota’s global success stems from the company’s commitment to customer satisfaction. It is the reason why people don’t mind buying Toyotas without test driving them and it is also the reason why people don’t mind buying Toyotas that are not new, which helps keep resale value high – another often-quoted virtue of Toyota ownership.

UMW Toyota Motor, the manufacturer and distributor of Toyota vehicles in Malaysia, understands the importance of customers’ needs and has developed various efforts to instil the awareness among its employees. Creating responsiveness and building relationship with the customers will at the same time promote the renowned Toyota Ownership Experience.

“Customer excellence is the most essential element of customer retention, customer loyalty and product re-purchase. In our business there is only one boss – the customer. Our objective therefore is to create and reinforce good and pleasurable experience for our customers so that they will continue to buy Toyota cars and encourage others to buy Toyota”, said Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin, Chairman of UMW Toyota Motor at the award presentation ceremony of the 2012 Chairman’s Award challenge trophy.

The Chairman’s Award, held every year since 1988, is a challenge trophy for UMW Toyota Motor outlets which achieved the highest scores in the Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI) and Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI). The award’s aim is to create awareness among UMW Toyota Motor branches and its authorised dealers on the importance of Customer Service and Customer Relations activities.

Winners of the award were Laser Motor Sdn Bhd from Bangsar for the Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI) category and the UMW Toyota Motor Langkawi Service Center for the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) category. This marks the third successive win for Laser Motor in the SSI category, whilst the Langkawi team won the CSI category for only the first time. Both teams were treated to a two-night stay at Club Med Cherating, Kuantan.

“To both teams I say ‘well done’. Your success is a reflection of your hard work and efficient processes that provided superior ownership experience, which has built trust and strengthened relationships with our customers. This is in line with Toyota’s customer first philosophy and we in UMW Toyota Motor are proud of your achievement”, Tan Sri Asmat added.
