Super GT 2013 in Sepang on 15-16 June
The Autobacs Super GT Series season’s third round race has become a regular fixture in Malaysia’s annual motorsport calendar, with our Sepang International Circuit being given the privilege to host the series’ only round outside Japan. Since 2011, JPM Motorsports has been the event organizer of the Malaysian round, and the outfit is returning to put the show together again for the third time running.
This year’s season is already underway, with the first and second rounds having already been completed. Round 1 took place at the Okayama International Circuit on 6-7 April followed by Round 2 at the Fuji Speedway at Oyama in Shizuoka on 28-29 April. The Malaysia round is scheduled to take place on 15-16 April, after which the action will return to Japan for the season’s remaining five races.
As before, the Super GT Series is divided into the GT500 and GT300 class with participating manufacturers including the likes of Lexus, Honda, Nissan, Toyota, Subaru, Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, BMW, Mosler, Chevrolet, Audi, Aston Martin and Mercedes-Benz.
In addition to the cars and racing, another crucial component of Super GT’s appeal is its bevy of GT Queens, and this year’s season will feature a Malaysian in their ranks. Julie Tan, winner of the 2012 Malaysian Super GT Queen Search Pageant, was present at Oyama for Round 2, and she will be joining representatives of JPM to promote the Malaysian round of the series.
Ticket price for the race has been announced at RM100, unchanged from last year, and can be purchased from the official Super GT Malaysia website at www.supergt.com.my. Further details can also be obtained from the event’s official Facebook page at www.facebook.com/supergt.my.
