Mitsubishi Triton now available with single cab option

by -

Workhorse buyers have just been offered a new option for a single cab pick-up truck, with Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia launching the new Triton Single Cab 2.8-litre diesel 4×4 manual to compete against single cab variants of the Hilux, D-Max, and Navara.

Powering it is a naturally aspirated four-cylinder indirect injection engine making 96hp @ 4,000rpm and 198Nm @ 2,000rpm channeled to Mitsubishi’s Easy Select 4WD system via a 5-speed manual transmission. As seen in its twin cab variants, the Triton’s Easy Select system enables ‘Shift on the Fly’ 2WD to 4WD switchover at speeds up to 100kph.

For the benefit of reliability, Mitsubishi has tuned the Triton Single Cab’s 2.8-litre mill to operate on low quality diesel fuel, thus reducing the risk of engine damage when forced to accept fuel of compromised quality when transporting goods in remote areas.

The added length of its cargo bed naturally gives the Triton Single Cab added volume to transport heavy goods, and to facilitate easy loading and unloading, it has a low cargo height of 845mm. A tight turning radius of 5.9m enables it to easily find its way through tight spaces.

Standard safety features are naturally not as generous compared to say, the Triton VGT, but the Single Cab does come with Anti-Intrusion brake pedal, collapsible steering, and Mitsubishi’s RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) body structure.

Priced at RM 70,409.60 on-the-road without insurance in Peninsula Malaysia, the fully imported Triton Single Cab is available in White Solid. In East Malaysia, it is priced at RM71,221.00 and RM71,372.50 for Sabah and Sarawak respectively. It is covered by a 3-year/100,000 km warranty and 2-year free maintenance package.
