Porsche Cayenne GTS launched in Malaysia

by -

The Porsche Cayenne GTS has officially arrived in Malaysia, officially bringing the number of variants in the local Cayenne line-up to six. The Cayenne GTS sits in between the RM720k Cayenne S Hybrid and the RM970k Cayenne Turbo. Another two variants, the Cayenne S Diesel and the Cayenne Turbo S are not offered here at the moment.

Under the GTS’ hood is an all-aluminium quad cam 4.8-litre naturally aspirated V8 packed with technologies such as variable valve timing, VarioCam Plus, direct injection, and auto start/stop. It is the same engine as seen in the Panamera GTS, but tuned to marginally more conservative outputs of 420hp @ 6,500rpm and 515Nm @ 3,500rpm.

Paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic manual override function, the Panamera GTS sprints to 100kph from a standstill in 5.7 seconds, and to 160kph in 13.3 seconds. Top speed is claimed to be 261kph, and fuel consumption tested in the new European driving cycle is as 10.7 l/100km.

Compared to other members in the Cayenne family, the GTS boasts a sportier chassis setup. It is equipped with Porsche’s PASM adaptive adaptive dampers, and its suspension is lowered allowing the GTS to sit 24mm closer to ground than a Cayenne S. This, Porsche claims and so would you suspect, gives the Cayenne GTS a sportier and more agile character than its stablemates.

Style-wise, the Cayenne GTS borrows the Cayenne Turbo’s front end to advertise its sportier credentials. Supplementing that message are high-gloss black external trim, side skirts, flared wheel arches, and a distinctive roof spoiler. The interior is lined with Alcantara leather, with front sports seats boasting eight-way adjustment as standard.

Priced at RM800,000 including duties but before on-road costs, the Cayenne GTS is covered by a a 4-year factory warranty and a 4-year complimentary service and maintenance package.
