Ducati Monster Diesel arrives in Malaysia

Ducati has just launched the Monster Diesel, a special edition motorcycle based on the Monster 1100 Evo, in a Ducati gathering held at Bangsar where another special edition motorcycle, the Diavel Cromo, was previewed. The Monster Diesel is priced at RM118,888, whilst the Diavel Cromo will be priced at RM124,888.

The Monster Diesel is the product of a partnership with Diesel, the fashion brand founded by Renzo Rosso, so this is not to be confused as a diesel-powered motorcycle. Based on the Monster 1100 Evo, the Monster Diesel sports a military-inspired theme, highlighted by its ‘Diesel Brave Green matte’ livery on the black Ducati Trellis frame, wheels, engine covers, exhaust system, and forks.

Additional special touches can be seen on areas such as the leather seat, on which the Diesel label is stitched on, and the aluminium air intakes, where the Diesel logo is laser-engraved upon. Customers can also specify a metal plaque identifying the owner to be attached to the passenger seat as a further touch of personalization.

Technical specs of the Monster Diesel are on par with the Monster 1100 Evo, with power delivered from the 1,100cc Desmodue Evoluzione L-Twin engine, Ducati’s first two-valve unit to hit 100hp, delivered at 7,500rpm. Maximum torque is quoted as 103Nm @ 6,000rpm. Exhaust piping follows a 2-1-2 configuration, and the engine’s emissions conform to Euro 3 standards.

The Monster Diesel’s launch coincides with the second Asia Ducati Week 2012, to be held from 18 to 23 October 2012. There will be a range of various events and activities as part of the occasion, such as the Ducati Street Party along Jalan P. Ramlee and a series of convoys, one of them to the Sepang International Circuit in conjunction with the Malaysian MotoGP 2012.

Selected participants of the Asia Ducati Week will also enjoy the Ducati Riding Experience (DRE) conducted by no less than two certified Italian trainers from Ducati Motor Holding. Riding legends of Ducati Troy Bayliss and Loris Capirossi will also be making special appearances throughout the Asia Ducati Week, giving participants various tips and tricks of riding.

There will be 4 designated Ducati Red Zones in Kuala Lumpur for Asia Ducati Week. From 11 to 24 October, customers who patronize any of the designated Ducati Red Zones fulfilling certain requirements will be entitled to enjoy a variety of promotions which consists of the following:
– La Bodega (All outlets): Wear a Ducati shirt and get 20% off on F&B (excluding cigarettes or retail products)
