Learning traffic rules in Legoland

Among many attractions in the recently opened Legoland Malaysia in Johor is a mini driving school allowing young children to learn the rules of the road in the safety of a controlled environment.

Opened in partnership with the Tan Chong Group, the Legoland Malaysia Driving School is opened to children between the ages of 6 and 13, with a separate Junior Driving School for even younger ones aged 3 to 5.

Upon registration, children will be shown a video and introduced to their Lego car that carries the Nissan logo. They will also be briefed on important safety information before being allowed to steer their Lego cars. In the driving school’s compound, children are expected to drive the vehicles at speeds no greater than 6kph while obeying road signs and traffic lights just like in real life.

At the conclusion of their stint, the children will be issued their very own Legoland Malaysia Driving License. The Junior Driving School offers a similar experience, but with slower single pedal cars.

Expressing his excitement about Tan Chong being the exclusive automotive marketing partner for Legoland Malaysia, Dato’ Dr. Ang Bon Beng, Executive Director of Edaran Tan Chong Motor said, “Our children today will become drivers tomorrow, maneuvering their own real vehicle through real-life traffic. Through the Legoland Malaysia Driving School, we hope to provide children with a first hand experience of driving, while educating them about road safety ethics and being a responsible motorist.”
