Fresh from his win in Singapore and ahead of the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix weekend, Formula One Double World Champion Sebastian Vettel was at Infiniti’s global manufacturing plant in Tochigi yesterday where he tested a special edition vehicle created and named after him, the Infiniti FX Vettel Edition.

The Red Bull Racing star and Infiniti Brand Ambassador spent an entire at the plant touring its facilities, meeting engineers and staff, before approving the first production units of the model. The highlight of his day was on the factory test track where he drove the FX Vettel Edition for the first time along with a number of future Infiniti products currently under development.

Vettel had co-designed the FX Vettel Edition in a unique collaboration with Infiniti’s Senior Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, Shiro Nakamura. The vehicle is powered by a 5.0-litre V8 with 414hp and it features F1-inspired aerodynamics and carbon-fibre components. It is priced from €120,000 onwards, depending on country.

Commenting on the event, Vettel said, “It was great to get a look behind the scenes at Infiniti, meet some of the people involved and of course drive the car. In F1, the first few laps testing a new car are when you find out if its quick or not. It was the same today and I’m pleased to say the Infiniti team have done an outstanding job. It really delivers on the vision I had it’s very fast, and a car that driving enthusiasts are going to enjoy. It was also good to be involved in the testing of some future products and to work with the Infiniti engineers to develop the performance further.”
