400 truckers feted in Shell Rimula gala dinner
Shell Rimula recently hosted some 400 truckers and customers from across the country at a special appreciation gala dinner held at Imperial Hotel, Miri, Sarawak. Miri was chosen to host the 2012 edition of the event as Sarawak, with its many long haul routes, is a key market of Shell Rimula engine oils, and not to mention the fact that Shell’s regional HQ also happens to be in the neighbourhood.
Also at the event were eight out of the 10 winners of its inaugural Shell Rimula ‘Hardworking’ Contest. They were Seo Kheng Bun from Sarikei, Suchdav Jotisroop from Kluang, Alex Han from Miri, Liow Tien Hwee from Melaka, Lim Swee Chong from Batu Pahat, Dennis Ling from Miri, Tay Han Siong from Kuching and Chin Mieng Lek from Miri. Two others, Gan Wen Huei and Wee Yong Shin were unable to attend.
The ten will join winners from around the world for a 4-day 3-night all-expense paid holiday to France from 12 to 15 October 2012. The highlight of the trip is the opportunity to watch the fastest trucks in the continent compete in the 2012 European Truck Racing Championship Finals at Le Mans.
The contest was part of the unique ‘Hardworking’ global campaign, which was launched in Malaysia in June this year together with the introduction of two new high performance heavy duty diesel engine oils – the Shell Rimula R5 LE synthetic-technology and the fully synthetic Shell Rimula R6 LM heavy duty diesel engine oils.
Central to the campaign was the 40-tonne Shell Rimula ‘Hardworking’ Truck. During the two-month long roadshow in July and August 2012, the custom-made recreation truck made stops at designated rest areas along the North-South Highway in Peninsula Malaysia, in the Sarawakian towns of Sibu and Miri and Kundasang and Sandakan in Sabah.
At each of the stops, free haircuts, hot coffee and cold drinks as well as Shell Rimula Toiletry Kits and water bottles were handed out to hardworking truckers. For the many weary truckers who spend hours on the road daily, it was a pleasant and much welcomed surprise.
