Four Shell Advance customers, who entered and won the Shell Advance ‘Key to Freedom’ contest, will be traveling to watch the Spanish MotoGP live in Valencia, Spain, this November. The SMS-based contest ran from 1 June until 31 August 2012, and was open to customers who purchased a 1-litre pack of Shell Advance Ultra 4T, AX7 4T, AX5 4T, VSX 2T or SX 2T motorcycle oil.

The four winners, Mr Ryan Lau from Sarawak, Ms Lim Lay Cheng from Penang and Johoreans Mr Ong Kim San and Ms Ong Wan Eng, were announced at the Shell Advance ‘Battle of the Bands’ competition at Hard Rock Cafe, Kuala Lumpur, last weekend. During the all-expenses paid trip, the four can further to their winnings as they have the opportunity to win a Ducati Monster superbike worth RM60k.

A simple ceremony was part of the agenda during the Battle of the Bands finale at Hard Rock where Shell Lubricants Brand & Communications Manager, Yu Li Ching, presented the four winners with their prizes. According to Ms Yu, the Shell Advance ‘Key to Freedom’ contest, which received some 9,000 entries, was aimed at rewarding loyal Shell Advance customers.

“Many of them are wage earners who depend on their bikes for mobility and to earn a living. The all-expense paid trip to Spain to watch their favourite MotoGP stars is a holiday they would only dream about. Hopefully, one of them will even bring back the Ducati Monster superbike!” she said.

Meanwhile, the Shell Advance ‘Battle of the Bands’ competition is now in its second year, and the finale had ten up-and-coming local bands that garnered the highest number of online votes among the 20 selected by Shell Malaysia featured on www.youtube.com/user/2012advancebob battling it out on stage.

The Jespers, a six-man strong band from Kuala Lumpur rocked the crowd to take home the Grand Prize of RM8,000 cash while the Second Prize and Third Prize of RM4,000 and RM2,000 cash went to The Black & Blues from Kuala Lumpur and Maya Opera from Johor respectively.

“It is a fantastic platform for young local bands to showcase their talent. The theme this year is ‘Hear the Sound, Feel the Freedom’ which is in line with the Shell Advance promise of endowing your motorcycle with responsiveness that you can hear,” Ms Yu added.
