Ferrari online auction to raise funds for Italian quake victims

An online international charity auction organized by Ferrari commenced on 6 June 2012 1600hrs CET to raise funds for victims of the recent earthquakes in Italy’s Emilia Romagna region.

Collectors will be able to bid on various Ferrari memorabilia, but the star attraction would be a specially-built 599XX Evo which will carry a special plaque dedicated by Ferrari’s Chairman, Luca di Montezemolo, and the Scuderia Ferrari drivers, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa. Bidding starts at €1.35 million, the successful buyer will receive the keys from Alonso and Massa themselves at the Monza Grand Prix in September.

Other items to look out for include a championship-winning V8 engine from 2008 (starting at €50,000) along with racing suits, gloves and helmets autographed by Alonso and Massa, an original nose cone of the Ferrari F60 F1 car, and the racing suit of Giancarlo Fisichella.

To contribute to the fund-raising efforts it will also be possible to purchase Scuderia watches from www.ferraristore.com, the proceeds of which will go towards the auction funds. The auction will end on 20 June.
