My Proton Makeover – last two winners announced
The last two recipients of Proton’s highly-popular My Proton Makeover have been announced, and they are 36 year-old IT consultant, Amirul Azim Mohd Hussain, and 54 year-old housewife Lee Koon Gaik. Both their cars were handed over to the folks at Proton R3 for refurbishment last week.
“We would like to convey our congratulations to Amirul Azim and Madam Lee on their winning submissions for the final rounds of this makeover programme. Both their story entries clearly showed their love for their cars and were very encouraging to the panel of judges as it represented their confidence in the Proton brand,” Chacko added.
Amirul’s car is a red Satria which has been with him for the past eleven years, serving him in his bachelor days all the way till he has reached fatherhood. Meanwhile, Madam Lee’s Proton Saga Megavalve Aeroback 1.5I was a gift from her husband 20 years ago, and has been used by her to ferry her sons to school, college and early working life.
“The two cars have served their owners well, and are in need of major refurbishment. However, to keep on schedule, as much as the team is enjoying themselves revamping these old cars, they will be pushing themselves to ensure these cars get the best treatment and are delivered on time to their owners.” said Tengku Djan Ley, R3’s Head of Engineering.
“As both owners utilize their cars daily with their families, our focus will be to make certain that the cars perform with greater reliability, efficiency and safety, and that they will stay on the road for a long while to come,” he added.
Djan and his team had earlier handed back their fourth project back to its delighted owner last month. The Satria GTi of Hafiz bin Mohd Hashim was returned to him wearing a new coat of Lotus Green paint and a series of suspension enhancements at the Proton Power of 1 event in Bukit Jalil.
Earlier recipients of the makeover were Fadly Hisham Roplay’s Proton Saga Megavalve, Sashideran Radha Krishnan’s Proton Wira 1.5GL, and Norzamzarini Mohd Bajuri’s Proton Iswara Aeroback.
