Petaling Jaya, 16 February 2012 – Naza Bikes Sdn Bhd, part of the Naza Group of Companies, launched their latest 125 cc motorcycle in conjunction with its the Naza Chinese New Year Open house celebration at the Naza Automall in Petaling Jaya.
Officiated by YB Senator Dato’ Ir Donald Lim Siang Chai, Deputy Minister of Finance, the new motorbike was launched with a flourish by the senator on the beat of a gong. “Since the incorporation of Naza bikes in 2003, Naza Bikes has successfully launched 14 different models of motorcycles and was the first Malaysian manufacturer to locally assemble big bikes within the 250 cc to 650 cc range at affordable prices in the local market. This is in tandem with the Naza Group vision and Naza’s own history, and is a major step forward in line with my late father’s aspiration,” said Datuk Wira SM Faisal.
All Naza motorcycles are produced in Naza’s 24,000 sq. ft facility in Shah Alam, which includes its research and development centre, assembly lines, pre-delivery inspection, after-sales and distribution for nationwide delivery. Naza bikes are produced with collaboration with its partners from Korea, Taiwan and China.
The Naza NZ125R is a four-stroke air-cooled, 125cc motorcycle that complies with Euro 2 emission standards. Fuel consumption is one of the concerns of people owning these affordable class machines, and the NZ125R can give up to 65 kilometres per litre of fuel, based on a constant 80km/hr speed. According to Naza, it is estimated that an owner can save up to RM500 a year on fuel savings alone.
Datuk Wira SM Faisal stated “In designing the bike, we took into consideration of many factors to match the design with the customers’ needs. Foremost on our mind is to develop a bike that will help the low income earner save on fuel consumption and maintenance. Value-added features such as (an) electrical power point is (a) practical feature not offered by our competitors. Our long term objective of Naza Bikes is to be a full-fledged motorcycle manufacturing company that can fully develop our own indigenous product. We want to become a respectable and international well-known player. The launch of the NZ125R model is the first effort of Naza bikes to be a serious contender in the underbone category locally and internationally.”
The development of the NZ125R was undertaken by the engineers of Naza bikes. Development time was 18 months, and covered more than 20,000 kilometres of testing, including a 2,700 kilometre ride over two weeks to prove its durability. The NZ125R is available for sale at RM3, 788, and will be in showrooms from this weekend.
