Mitsubishi Fuso Canter FG 4×4 launched
When your job scope includes attending a dozen product launches and events every month, it becomes increasingly difficult to come across one that has any novelty value. How about using a construction site as launch venue? That’s new indeed, and I found myself in one this morning where the new Mitsubishi Fuso Canter FG 4×4 was launched.
Designed for heavy duty off-road use in plantations and construction sites, the Canter FG 4×4 features a 5-speed manual transmission with transfer case and front locking hubs not unlike those which we know from pick-up trucks. Powering it is a a Euro II compliant 3.9-litre 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine rated at 108hp and 275Nm. The Canter FG 4×4 has a gross weight rating of five tonnes and is being assembled locally in MBM’s plant in Pekan.
“Harsh road conditions, brutal weather, and long-distance journeys to remote, hill and uneven terrains are just some of the many situations faced by Malaysian truckers every day. Although common, these situations would be a nightmare without the support and reassurance of a reliable and versatile vehicle. And needless to say, this Canter FG 4×4 offers just that,” said Mr Albert Yee, General Manager, Sales and Marketing, Commercial Vehicles, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.
The Mitsubishi Fuso Canter FG 4X4 is priced at an estimated RM135,000 for a wooden cargo body and RM140,000 with steel tipper body, both on the road with insurance.
