New 2012 Jaguar XF Launched in Malaysia
Barely two weeks into 2012, we get to see the unveiling of the Jaguar XF – now available in 3.0 litre V6 petrol or diesel, the XF is competitively priced between the Mercedes E class and S Class sedan – based purely on looks alone, they are worth considering as a serious alternative to the German makes – after all, this is a bit of British heritage. The Jaguar brand here in Malaysia is represented by Sisma Auto.
The British are not known to make drastic changes in design, and the XF bears this out – you will be hard put to tell if there is any difference in looks. In terms of engines, the 3.0 litre diesel gives an output of 275 PS, and torque is a hefty 600 Nm. Coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission, it makes zero to one hundred kilometres per hour in 6.4 seconds, while top speed is 250 kph, limited electronically. The 3.0 litre gasoline engine is also a V6, and has an output of 238PS and maximum torque output of 293Nm. Zero to one hundred kilometres per hour is somewhat slower, at 8.3 seconds. Top speed is again limited at 250 kph. Thus it appears the diesel is more powerful, and more economical to boot.
Fuel economy in combined cycle is 10.5 litres per 100 kilometres for the petrol version and 6.8 for the diesel. Bear in mind though that these are test figures, and in real world terms, expect anything up to 30 percent more. There is a 2.2 litre diesel available, but we have no details of that model appearing here.
Retail price for the 3.0 litre diesel version is RM509, 888.00, while the petrol version is slightly cheaper at RM488, 000.00. A more powerful 5.0 litre V8 with 510 PS is also available at RM888, 888.00.
We have been ‘promised’ a test drive soon – I for one am looking forward to it.
