Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) continues to enjoy a strong run of sales this year, recording an impressive 11.4% year-on-year growth in passenger car sales for the first three quarters of the year with 4,197 cars sold from January till September 2011. In fact, in the month of September alone, MBM sold 488 cars with the newly refreshed C-Class leading the way.

Having already announced MBM’s best ever half-year performance several months back, Roland S. Folger, President & CEO of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, said, “While this is extremely positive for the company and the brand, it is also an indication of upbeat consumer sentiment in Malaysia. Naturally, we are buoyed by this performance. We have kept up the momentum we built in the first six months, and we are confident of 2011 being our most successful year on record.”

The C-Class, refreshed in July with an updated model, continues to become MBM’s top-selling model with 1,706 units sold up until September this year. The E-Class follows close with 1,690 units sold in that same period, a 3.4% increase from the corresponding period last year.

For its other models, the S-Class sold 194 units, whilst the B-Class and R-Class recorded sales growths of 150% and 50% respectively. Effective 1 Oct 2011, Mercedes-Benz passenger cars are sold with 4-year warranties compared to the previous 3-year warranty.

The company also realised positive gains from its commercial vehicles segment in the first nine months. Sales of Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles and Mitsubishi FUSO improved over 30% with 1,500 units sold in total.

Globally, it has also been a record-breaking year for Mercedes-Benz as a whole. Worldwide sales totaled up to 919,288 units, representing a 7.6% growth year-on-year. Main sales contributor was the Chinese market with 135,506 vehicles sold – an incredible increase of 32.8%.
