Ducati Monster 795 to make global debut in Malaysia
Global debuts of new car or bike models tend to take place in Europe, or increasingly often these days, in China. Thailand, with its vibrant pick-up market, gets this privilege occasionally. Next week, it will be Malaysia’s turn, as Ducati will be showing its new Monster 795 bike to the world for the first time in our shores.
Building up to the official launch on next Friday, 20 October, local distributors Next Bike Sdn Bhd has placed a unit of the 795 inside the ‘Ducati Sneak Peek Box’ located outside of Lot 10, Jalan Bukit Bintang. Members of the public will have the opportunity to get glimpses of the new model before its actual unveiling.
Naza Group of Companies Joint Group Executive Chairman, Datuk Wira Hj SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin, stated, “We are proud to showcase Malaysia to the World once again through Ducati. Last year we presented the Asia Ducati Week 2010 which brought together Ducati enthusiasts from 22 countries to share the Ducati Riding Experience at Malaysia’s own Sepang track with Troy Bayliss and emerge themselves in the MotoGP experience.”
“The new Monster is expected to further contribute to the growth of Ducati in Malaysia, this year alone the company has grown its sales volume by 100% where we expect to retail more than 200 units of Ducati. The introduction of Ducati Diavel in December 2010 had significantly increase our market share as we enter new market segments and with this new Monster, we expect to further capture more market share within the naked bike category,” Faisal added.
In conjunction with the upcoming launch, there is also a Ducati Brand Experience Roadshow taking place inside Lot 10 from 7 October until 23 October. The full range of Ducati bikes and merchandise are on display. Visitors can also buy tickets to the MotoGP race scheduled for 21 – 23 October from a booth setup by Sepang Circuit at the roadshow.
Bikepalooza 2011: 14 – 16 Oct
On a separate bike event also related to the Naza Group, Eftra Ideas Sdn Bhd is holding a three-day long festival dubbed Bikepalooza 2011 supported by Naza World, Two Brothers Racing, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. There will be various showcases and not to mention special deals on biking merchandise, accessories, and services.
“BikePalooza is a one-of-a-kind bike festival we are introducing for the first time in Malaysia. This event is not only about showcasing various brands of motorcycles in the market but also an event where motorbike owners congregate to network, exchange biking knowledge whilst also enjoying days of fun-filled activities. The event is just not for bikers – it’s for everyone, including the youth and families,” said Fairuz Iqma Zubir, General Manager of Eftra Ideas Sdn Bhd.
