College students to play working role in Shell FuelSave Day
In conjunction with the upcoming Global Shell FuelSave Day on 15 October 2011, Shell Malaysia is throwing a challenge to students of five selected private colleges to plan and execute a PR campaign to promote the event in what is called the 2011 Shell FuelSave College Competition.
Aimed at Communication students, the competition requires participants to create and implement a full public relations campaign for the Global Shell FuelSave Day which will see Shell attempt to create a Guinness World Record by holding the largest ever fuel efficiency training session simultaneously in 10 countries across Asia and Europe.
Each participating college has been given a grant of RM5,000 from Shell to fund their campaign ideas. At the event venue in One Utama Shopping Centre, booth spaces will allocated to each college to display their handiwork. Teams will be judged on content and creativity of their proposal, effectiveness, execution as well as the total number of attendees they were able to recruit to attend the Global Shell FuelSave Day.
The five participating colleges include HELP University College, INTI International University, Multimedia University, SeGi University College and Tunku Abdul Rahman College. The first place team will receive RM10,000 and a trophy while the second place team receives RM5,000 and a plaque for their respective colleges. The winning team of 2011 Shell FuelSave College Competition will be announced at the Global Shell FuelSave Day.
Meanwhile, Shell has also announced the confirmed line-up of artists that will be delivering performances throughout the event:
• Malaysian pop and R&B singer Ning Baizura
• Winner of the One in a Million competition (in 2006) Suki Low
• Independent rock band Freeloaders Inc
• Percussion ensemble Diplomat of Drums, and
• Pop rock band Rosevelt
