Proton Edar introduces 60 Minutes Express Service programme

Having just launched the more affordable AMP branded spare parts, Proton continues on its quest to improve its much-maligned after sales service with the newly introduced 60 Minutes Express Service campaign, which promises faster turnaround time for Proton cars performing their maintenance at authorized service centres.

“A frequent complaint we receive from customers is that it takes too long to service their Proton car. (Writer’s Note: I agree.) More often this is attributed to the number of vehicles that are being attended to at the service centre at any one particular time. In order to address this, we now have dedicated service advisors to attend customers, dedicated technician to work on the vehicles, and dedicated service bays to get the job done,” said Proton Edar Sdn. Bhd Chief Executive Officer Encik Mohamad Shukor Ibrahim.

Under the programme, owners are promised a waiting time not exceeding 60 minutes, failing which labour charges will be waived (i.e. you still pay for parts). The service will initially be available at 21 service centres nationwide and will eventually be extended to all Proton Edar service centres.

Centres offering the service will display the 60 Minutes Express Service logo. The programme is available only by appointment on Mondays to Fridays (8:00am – 5:15pm), and is applicable only for basic maintenance which includes lubricant change.

Of course, when we say basic, Proton is also keen to stress that you will not be getting a shoddy service job. A free 18-point quality and safety check is thrown in as part of the package. As En Shukor notes, “It’s much more than just changing the lubricants, oil and air filters but a detailed service check-up.”
