Goodyear completes first ‘Survival Training’ workshop
Goodyear’s first ‘Survival Training’ workshop, part of its ‘Women with Drive’ campaign, was successfully completed at Nusajaza Goodyear Autocare Centre in shah Alam. Participants of the inaugural edition also had the opportunity to be classmates with Xandria Ooi, the campaign’s ambassador, and also female members of the media.
In the five-hour workshop, participants were taught basic auto care knowledge such as the various functions of components under the bonnet, correct driving position, best driving practices, as well as basic car and tyre inspection. Participants were also given the opportunity to share past problems with their cars, and received certain pointers to better deal with such situations.
Xandria Ooi was among the participants.
The course started with an introduction telling participants of road accident statistics and how cars have evolved over the years to become increasingly heavier and more powerful. After that came driving tips teaching participants of various dos and don’ts of not only during driving, but also before driving. The importance of a correct driving position and wearing seat belts were also emphasized.
Maintenance tips covered on oil change, where participants were taught on choosing not only the right engine oil for their cars, but also how to check and determine when it is time for an oil change. Participants were also taught about the importance of the engine’s cooling system, brakes, and transmission, and how to inspect these components for damage. For each topic a ‘myth vs fact’ slide highlights various public misconceptions on car care and clarifies the truth for the participants once and for all.
“It is important and crucial for women to be able to take care of themselves and their families in their cars and on the roads. This workshop is a great opportunity for women to come together in a familiar, interactive and safe environment to better understand their vehicles. This free community workshop is open to all and should not be missed.” said Ivy Peng, Sales Director of Goodyear Malaysia.
Goodyear will be running two more “Survival Training” workshops in the third and fourth quarter of the year. Those interested to participate can register and find out more information on the programme on Goodyear’s official website at www.goodyear.com.my.
