VGM comments on Passat CC cars stuck in customs

by -

There has been heated discussion in our forums recently regarding a lengthy delay in deliveries of the Volkswagen Passat CC by Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM). In response to growing customer pressure, VGM yesterday sent out a press release explaining that the 2011 shipment of the Passat CC is being held back by the Royal Malaysian Customs for re-evaluation of its duties.

The cars are currently held up at port awaiting clearance, and will be released upon completion of the evaluation exercise. There is a likelihood that this evaluation may force an upward price increase for the Passat CC from the current RM245,060 price tag before insurance.

VGM has declared in its statement that customers who signed on their order forms before 7 April 2011 will receive their cars at the existing price, but those after that will be at the mercy of the Customs’ decision.

We are keeping tabs on this matter, and shall keep you posted on any new developments.
