Nissan Navara now with King Cab 4×4 variant
The pick-up truck market in Malaysia largely favours the high-riding four-door twin-cab design. Purely commercial buyers occasionally look at single-cab variants for added cargo space, whilst buyers on a budget tend to go for low-riding twin-cab versions. The king cab body is popular in Thailand, but has been largely ignored in our market, until today.
Usually a conservative outfit, Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) has bucked the trend this time by pioneering an entry into the king cab segment with the Limited Edition Nissan Navara King Cab 4×4. Priced at RM82,800 with insurance in Peninsula Malaysia, the Navara King Cab is powered by the 172hp/403Nm version of the 2.5-litre YD25DDTi turbodiesel lump that is also used in other 4×4 versions of the Navara. The sole transmission option is a 6-speed manual, which goes together with an electronic ‘Shift-on-the-Fly’ 4×4 system.
To facilitate access to its in-cabin storage capabilities, the Navara King Cab comes with rear access doors that enable items to be stored from either side of the vehicle. These unique rear access doors have a 90° opening arc. Pillar-less door openings further ease cabin access. Compared to the Navara Double Cab, the new King Cab also has a larger rear cargo bed.
Commenting on ETCM’s recent sales performance, Executive Director Dato’ Dr Ang Bon Beng said, “2010 marks a significant milestone for the Nissan brand in Malaysia as we achieved our highest sales record for the past 25 years with 32,998 units delivered to our valued customers.”
The Nissan Navara King Cab is available in four colour variants namely Tungsten Silver, Twilight Grey, Brilliant White and Supreme Black. It is offered with a 3-year / 100,000km warranty.
