Goodyear Malaysia launches new Assurance Fuel Max tyres

Goodyear Malaysia has launched a new addition to its line of Assurance tyres, dubbed the Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max. Compared to the existing Goodyear Assurance tyre, the new tyre features identical tread patterns but different compound in its make-up. Its Fuel Saving technology is claimed to provide a 4% boost in fuel efficiency and a 15% in tyre mileage.

Designed for use in family cars of the mid and premium markets, the new Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max is lined with the same DuPont Kevlar technology from its predecessor tyre, a lightweight material boasting five times the strength of steel. The tyre is also designed for reduced rolling resistance, achieved with the use of an advanced full silica compound which reduces friction between the tyre’s rubber molecules. At the same time, this also makes the tyre highly resistant to abrasion, simultaneously improving fuel consumption and overall tyre lifespan.

Results from internal tests of the Assurance Fuel Max by Goodyear gives it a projected tread life of up to 85,777km under presumably ideal usage. This represents a 15% improvement from the older Goodyear Ducaro GA tyres, although actual fuel savings and tread life may vary based various conditions – environment, road, vehicle, and driver.

In further tests of the tyre evaluated by TUV SUD Automotive GmbH, results suggest that the Assurance Fuel Max is able to contribute as much as 4% in fuel savings compared to Ducaro GA, which featured carbon-based tread compound. The test was performed in Mireval, France using a Citroen C4 1.6 using 195/65 R15 tyres.

As of now, Goodyear offers the Assurance Fuel Max in seven different sizes ranging between 15″ and 17″ rim diameters available at all Goodyear Servitekar and Autocare outlets nationwide:

  • 15″: 195/60 R15 88V, 205/60 R15 94V
  • 16″: 205/55 R16 91V, 205/55 R16 92V, 215/60 R16 95V
  • 17″: 215/55 R17 94V, 225/55 R17 97V
