Mazda set to enter compact SUV arena with CX-5
Having seen Audi take the veils off its all-new Q3, we now see Mazda set to become the latest manufacturer to dabble its fingers into the compact SUV market. The Japanese car maker today announced that a production-ready version of the Minagi concept will hit the road in 2012.
Mazda debuted the Minagi at the Geneva show earlier this year, and the concept will make another appearance later this week at the New York Auto Show. The production-ready version, which will be called the CX-5, will make its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September.
According to Mazda, the CX-5 will be the first production vehicle to incorporate the firm’s new design languagethat was first showcased on the Shinari concept car. It will also feature the full range of breakthrough SKYACTIV technologies, which will include improvements to engines, transmissions, body and chassis.
